When in Rome Part II

Here are the rest of the pictures from our stay in Rome :)

Victor Emmanuel Monument

Beautiful pine trees

Beginning of the ruins

NOT the colosseum.. Theatre Marcellus

Original statues from Roman  times

Romulus and Remus

Forum Romanum..so pretty

This just shows how the Romans built on top of their existing cities instead of tearing them down... 25 meters (about 82 feet) below the current city in some areas is the old one

The Colosseum!

We were there.. sweaty and tired..but we were there!

Playing with different lighting options on my camera

Gate of Constantine

Other view of the Colosseum

Came back to this after our 3 1/2 hr walking tour.. wine..apples..and water.. dont mind if I do!

heading home in the morning..tired and sad :(

When in Rome...

Do as the Romans do! We were sad to be off our cruise but we couldn't complain too much because we still had a final day in Roma! Matt and I fell in LOVE with Rome as well.. we will be going back as soon as we can. It is only an hour and a half flight away, why not right? Our hotel was a swanky one.. we stayed at the Intercontinental De La Ville Roma. The hotel is from the 17th century so it in itself is historic.  We were nervous they wouldn't even let us in considering we looked like back packers haha! We used our amazing hotel points and were able to stay here for nada. Couldn't have been better. The room we originally booked was the smallest (aka cheapest) room they had.. and that room would still have been 235 euro a night (about 300 dollars). We were instantly upgraded to a room with a full terrance upon check in as we are frequent guests of Intercontinental hotels.Needless to say we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was also at the top of the Spanish Steps, which made exploring the city very easy. It made our last night in Italy one to remember.

Rome is an amazing city with so much to see. Sadly, we didn't get to go IN any of the sites, but we got to see them nonetheless.

Seeing the sights as our driver took us to the hotel

Our room!

This isnt a window? Its a door!

Our own private terrace :)

So pretty

Walk out of the hotel and turn right.. this is what you see... the top of the Piazza di Spagna.. aka the Spanish Steps
