Paris Part II

Matt and I had a wonderful (albeit tiring) first day in Paris. Unfortunately, Saturday (our second day) was very chilly and cloudy. We had originally planned to go and see Sacre Couer (a huge cathedral up on the hill overlooking the city) but since it was so cloudy we decided not to. The major point of going up there is seeing the amazing view of the city. Luckily I am going back to Paris in two weeks with my sister so I will try again! Instead we got up and decided to go and explore the St. Germain area of Paris, which is over by Notre Dame Cathedral. It is very artsy and full of reasonable restaurants. Thank goodness our property manager filled us in on this because we didnt want to get caught into the tourist traps!
St. Germain.. the hotel I will be staying at with my sister is right down the street from here!

This beautiful fountain greeted us as we exit the metro into the St. Germain area!

Once we exited the subway we made our way over to Notre Dame..

After we toured Notre Dame we went shopping and out for lunch in St. Germain!! So much fun! We visited many stores!! On my list of "to see" places was a famous macaroon store! They were delicious.. yet pricey ( 15 euro for 8..ugh ) but worth it for the experience! Matt found a 50s diner he wanted to eat at but I wasn't having it! If we are in France.. we will eat French food! We found a yummy cafe that had a price fix menu... 3 courses for 16 euro!!
Where Matt wanted to eat!

There were so many food vendors on the street!

Mmm crepes! Hopefully next time!

Soo apparently they were filming a movie or commercial.. and oblivious me walked right in the middle of it!

Beautiful flowers!

Chocolate!!

The renowned macaroon bakery!! Delish! Next time I am going to try one of the eclairs!

Matt as we sat down for lunch

His appetizer.. a selection of salads

My onion soup!

Soo Matt decided to slather his baguette in the mustard they had on the table.. BIG mistake.. it was a horseradish mustard.. he started crying, his face turned red, and coughing.. so naturally I took a picture and laughed!

Our boef bourginon

For dessert.. creme brulee...mmmm

After shopping and lunch we went back to the hotel and nap. Then it was out to Galleries Lafayette for their  view of the city and then Matts dinner of choice.. Hard Rock Cafe!

Inside the Galleries Lafayette.. beautiful stained glass window.. I was willing to get yelled at by security for this picture.. and boy was I!

Paris Opera House

Views of the city.. so cloudy!

Matt contemplating life? Nah.. prob just hungry!

At the hard rock for dinner!

Our home base for the weekend!
