Paris Part 1

Matt and I were able to take some time and enjoy a long weekend together. Since he was TDY for so long when he came back to Germany he immediately went back to work. This was our opportunity for him to take a rest and to go somewhere new. Naturally, we decided to go to the City of Light... PARIS!
We decided to go on a friday until sunday. We ended up driving the 4 hours to Disneyland Paris and parking our car in the garage for the weekend. Then we took the RER train into Paris and then the metro to our hotel. It sounds like a lot, but it was actually VERY easy!

Signs at Disneyland Paris taking us to the train station..

On the train!

Our hotel!

Our "king" bed room

Walking on Haussman headed towards the Champs de Elysee and the Arc de Triomphe

Matt thought the name of this restaurant was funny...

Finally made it to the Arc!

Matt in front of the Place Charles de Gaulle, a HUGE traffic circle around the Arc!

Me!

Us!

Soo funny story... Matt and I were trying to actually leave the area of the Arc to head to the Eiffel Tower. We went down stairs that we THOUGHT went to the Metro... what it actually did was take us underneath the traffic circle to up under the Arc! Matt wanted to take a "perspective" photo so you could see how large the Arc really is!

Standing inside and underneath the Arc...beautiful details!

Me in the underground tunnel that we mistook for the metro

Next, Matt and I went back on the metro to the Trocadero (on the advice from a Germany friend) to see the Tour Eiffel.. aka the Effiel Tower.. this is the view that we had when we arrived... stunning!

After we took some pictures across the street we decided to go and have an ice cream underneath the Eiffel Tower!

After we saw the Eiffel Tower we headed back to the room to relax and find dinner... we were shocked to find most of the restaurants in our area were UBER expensive (Like $60 a person) so we ended up finding a delicious italian place on a side street after much walking (and bickering). It was 18 euro just for the pizza...ugh...but it was delicious and we shared it! Then it was off to our night Seine River Cruise to see the beautiful sights of Paris.

Eiffel Tower sparkling at night.. it looks like it is covered in diamonds!
