So I took a long break from blogging...basically because I had nothing to say! Matt had been away on business for a couple months so I didn't venture out of our local area too much. I did have one interesting encounter while he was gone though, it was the wonderful German holiday of....FASCHING!
Here is some info on Fasching: History of Fasching
So unbeknownst to me, when I was driving back into my town it was the Fasching Parade day! All of the roads were blocked off by the fire dept so I had no choice but to pull over on the side of the road and watch the parade go by. Little did I know what that meant for me and my day.
Since there are only two American families in our village, the residents decided to immerse me into the celebration and quickly! Unlike Mardi Gras where floats throw beads, Germans throw (I should say PELT) you with cookies and hard candies. Oh..and there is drinking.. A LOT OF IT.
After about the 10-15 schnapps shots that I was made to do "Ohh American here do this..American try this.." were the common phrases of the day. You know when everyone is jumping off the golden gate bridge... you might as well too!
I was able to snap some pictures of the floats and crazy costumes on my phone! ENJOY!
