Frohes neues Jahr!!

After New Years, Matt and I had one week together before he headed to SOS in Montgomery Alabama for 8 weeks. Matt was able to take 4 days of leave so that we could relax together before he left. We decided to go to the city of Koln (Cologne) to visit the Lindt Chocolate Factory Museum!

Me researching Koln before we got there! A shot of the city and the Cathedral
Matt our captain (driver) and me as the navigator!

A shot of the gas station where we are approved to get gas from at discounted prices...notice they have a subway!!

Mom this shot is for you! Who knew QVC was in Europe too!

On the autobahn getting closer to Koln...you can just see the beginning of the Dom

Matt is great at backing our humungo jeep into these tiny european spaces!

It was a cold but nice day! We had a lot of rain on the way there but once we parked in Cologne the blue skies opened up! We also visit the Dom which is beautiful! It was started (being built) in 1248 an wasn't finished until the 1880s. It is one of UNESCOs World Heritage Sites (meaning something you need to see!) One of the most famous/important parts of the Cathedral is that it holds the Shrine of the Three Kings...which holds the remains of the Three Kings from the birth of Jesus. It is breath taking and I would definitely love to see it when it is sunnier out so that the sun can shine through its beautiful stained glass windows!
